Updated from sources checked on 16 October 2026.
The Women’s Big Bash League returns on 29 October, with its 2026 final scheduled for 5 December. Cricket Australia has announced a 43-match season that puts more fixtures in teams’ home cities and more games in prime-time slots.
Two matches launch the season
Junction Oval hosts the opening-day double-header. Melbourne Renegades face Sydney Thunder in the afternoon before Melbourne Stars meet Hobart Hurricanes under lights. Across the season, just four matches are designated neutral fixtures, down from seven in the previous edition.
How the finals work
The third- and fourth-placed teams meet in the Knockout on 1 December, hosted by the third-placed side. Its winner then faces the second-placed team in the Challenger on 3 December. The league-stage leader hosts the final on 5 December.
That route gives finishing positions distinct consequences: winning the league stage provides direct entry to the decider, while finishing third or fourth requires two finals wins to reach it.
